The Kurdish Community in California extends its deepest condolences on the passing of Senator Lindsey Graham.

Throughout his years of public service, Senator Graham was recognized as a strong voice for America's leadership abroad and for advocating the protection of vulnerable communities facing violence and persecution. The Kurdish people, in particular, remember his consistent support for efforts to protect Kurdish civilians and his recognition of the sacrifices made by Kurdish forces in the fight against terrorism.

Among his many contributions, Senator Graham demonstrated his continued commitment to the Kurdish people by co-introducing the Save the Kurds Act (S. 3740) in January 2026 alongside Senator Richard Blumenthal. This bipartisan legislation sought to strengthen U.S. support for the Kurdish people, reinforce America's commitment to its Kurdish allies, and promote their security, stability, and long-term protection. His leadership on this important legislation reflected his enduring belief that the Kurdish people deserved freedom, security, and the support of the international community.

At critical moments in our history, Senator Graham spoke in support of America's Kurdish allies and emphasized the importance of honoring the commitments made to those who stood alongside the United States in the pursuit of peace, stability, and security.
